Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th top-flight at home loss of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when Vicario lost possession far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Tottenham supporters jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

One of those jeering sessions truly angered the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Spurs supporters that do that. Alright booing after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had given Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role Vicario is performing. He is a great squad member, he's a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was deeply involved in what turned out to be the winning goal."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Match

Italian national team the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

He stated following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That score was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on us to remain more calm, to focus on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant top division score of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 seconds following the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," he remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and place it on target. I felt a good feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

While Vicario's error dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

The match was their tenth at home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club statistic matching 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have come since Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a single story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the stick," the pundit said. "He has accepted a prestigious job at a major team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
