Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the United States into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been underway for about three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a broader market, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic style. Players leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Awareness

Fights stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact success chances. This system is designed to reward coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is tracked introduces a interesting narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
