Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
