Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
