Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
