British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
