American-Palestinian Youth Freed Following Nine Months in Israel's Detention

An Palestinian-American youth after completing nine months in Israeli detention without charge gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest in February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care right after being freed, relatives told the media.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he requires after experiencing harsh conditions and brutal treatment for months."

The state department announced ongoing to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to the state department and President Donald Trump, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

The father, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously said his son only confessed about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits nor direct contact since February, and only heard about his son's condition through judicial records.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

It is also home to grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and homicide.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, and international organizations, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth per medical officials succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers during a confrontation last July.

At the time, military authorities reported officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.

Mohammed and Sayfollah collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No indictments occurred regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand the American government to safeguard our relatives," the uncle stated.
